Making Waves — a poem in free verse

Making Waves

Truth is something

You can’t always see.

A stone dropped

In an unconscious ocean,

A letter written

But never sent,

Pigtails mid-bounce

Caught on a jump rope.

Truth is the story told

To the sleeping child,

A shard piercing

Luminiferous ether.

Truth is in the silence between

A husband and wife.

Truth is disappointing lace.

Truth is 16 years.

Beetroot.

Coleslaw.

Tears.

Truth is a noxious gas;

Plague doctors with beak masks.

Truth circles Black holes,

It is dandelion fruits

On the air.

Truth is something you

Won’t

See

Here.

The “Twikus” of My Life

ADO #3 One Soul ( A Petrarchan)

ADO #3 – One Soul ( A Petrarchan)

In the shade of a crooked spire

we whisper our divine vows.

Our first gaze did arouse

quiet desire one night did transpire.

No words capture our desire

We love in the time the Universe allows.

Repress fears separation would rouse

had we not set our hearts on fire.

Our love just now is a falling star

racing through the midnight sky;

Serene, remote, bright gold and beautiful.

Any danger seems slight and far.

But no one can see us cry

as we go about our days in dutiful

earthbound lie.

Instead, let us be like a binary star

Unseen but dancing in an eternal sky.

My Inspiration

image

Jaded

I shut the door
on the world,
just for an hour–
Pour sweet
requiescence
into a glass so
ancient amity slips away–
As the seconds clear,
drip by drip, the dreaming starts.
You fall by the wayside
amongst the flotsam in
My heart–where I will not
hear you–or fear you–
but where I can believe in you
Again.
